1. No tobacco – tobacco, while chewing and smoking, can trigger mouth cancer. It has elements that damage DNA and cause cancer.
2. Bye to alcohol – alcohol is cancer-causing too. Regular intake of alcohol can cause mouth and other types of cancer.
3. No to chewing “supari” – Areca nuts or “supari” are dangerous with, or without, tobacco. Mouth cancer is common in South Asia and so is the culture of chewing areca nuts.
4. HPV vaccine –HPV virus can cause mouth and other types of cancer. Hence a vaccine to restrict the virus can be effective to curb and fight mouth cancer.
5. Healthy diet – it is well known that unbalanced diet can be a cause for mouth cancer. Experts have suggested that fruits and vegetables should constitute healthy diet and one should take a balanced and healthy diet.
6. Oral hygiene – if wounds in cavities and tongue are getting common, then we must be cautious. These wounds, if stay for longer periods, at similar spots can escalate into cancer
7. Stay away from harsh sunlight – longer exposure of lips to heavy sunlight can allow ultraviolet radiation to work and hence make us prone to mouth cancer. Preventing our face and lips from heavy and direct sunlight can help us stay away from mouth cancer.
8. Avoid fried food –food fried at high flame, in oil, have cancer-causing elements. Mouth cancer are also associated with these items. We can replace fried edibles with steamed or boiled items to avoid any chances of mouth cancer in our lives.
9. Cancer-fighting elements –some edibles have natural strength to fight cancer. According to a research beans, berries, green vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, ginger, grapes, green tea, soya and tomato can assist in fight against gradual development of the ailment.
10. Routine exercise – routine exercise can help us stay fit and active. It strengthens our immunity and helps us in fighting mouth and other types of cancer.
