1. Keep your inhaler close – Patients should use inhalers immediately when they sense an attack. Longer duration of attack can be life-threatening and hence inhalers are shall always be close to the patient.
2. Stay away from dust – Most of asthma cases are caused by dust allergy. When dust particle enters the swollen respiratory tracts, the patient starts breathing heavily and with complications the patient starts coughing.
3. Shying from cold – As cooler winter comes; the cases of asthma rise too. One must try to distance himself or herself from cold weather and cooler edibles or drinks.
4. Regular medication – If asthma has reached its chronic phase, then you should contact a doctor and rely on medication without any gaps. Not having medicines continuously may decrease the effect of the drug.
5. Proper sleep –lack of proper sleep increases the complications in respiratory tracts. This can father increase the intensity of attacks and the frequency too. Hence a proper and sufficient sleep in mandatory.
6. Use of mask – Swelling of respiratory tracts sensitise the respiratory systems of humans. A mask with proper protection against dust and pollutants should be preferred. It may feel uncomfortable at the start but you will be fine after a while.
7. Identify things causing allergy – Every person has different trigger point of allergy. These are distinct for Asthma patients too and it is not mandatory that one stuff may cause allergy to one and not to other. Hence, these sources should be identified.
8. Yoga –Yoga is an effective method to fight against asthma. It reduces the swelling in respiratory tracts. ‘anulom-vilom’ helps in increasing supply of oxygen to the lungs. Yoga brings lots of relief for the patient.
9. Use homemade remedies – On consulting a doctor, patient should take remedies from home into account as they can be of great help too.
10. Say no to smoking – If you have any complications hinting asthma, you should quit smoking immediately. Smoking can cause infections in lungs and in respiratory tracts as well.
